From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Film encompasses individual motion pictures, the field of film as an art form, and the motion picture industry. Films (also referred to as movies or motion pictures) are produced by recording images from the world with cameras, or by creating images using animation techniques or visual effects. Films are cultural artifacts created by specific cultures, which reflect those cultures, and, in turn, affect them. Film is considered to be an important art form, a source of popular entertainment and a powerful method for educating — or indoctrinating — citizens. The visual elements of cinema give motion pictures a universal power of communication. Some films have become popular worldwide attractions by using dubbing or subtitles that translate the dialogue. Films are made up of a series of individual images called frames. When these images are shown rapidly in succession, a viewer has the illusion that motion is occurring. The viewer cannot see the flickering between frames due to an effect known as persistence of vision, whereby the eye retains a visual image for a fraction of a second after the source has been removed. Viewers perceive motion due to a psychological effect called beta movement. The origin of the name "film" comes from the fact that photographic film (also called film stock) has historically been the primary medium for recording and displaying motion pictures. Many other terms exist for an individual motion picture, including picture, picture show, moving picture, photo-play and flick. A common name for film in the United States is movie, while in Europe the term cinema is preferred. Additional terms for the field in general include the big screen, the silver screen, the cinema and the movies. From Wikipedia under the

I read somewhere that "A film school degree will not necessarily secure you a place in the Hollywood film industry. However, an MFA film degree will definitely be able to help you." How do you get a MFA film degree? Asked by walz - Sat Oct 24 14:37:58 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I hate to break it to you but even an MFA would not help you out in Hollywood. Actually a lot of producers, directors, and actors have never even gone to film school. Your best bet is to start working in the industry and then to just keep pushing. Getting a film degree would be a huge waste of time. Answered by nyx - Sat Oct 24 14:50:45 2009 How do you remove film from Canon FT without removing the pictures on the film?
Q. I know it's a stupid question, but it's my question. I believe this Canon FT is from 1970, and obviously it's not mine but my dad's. He tought me how to do just about everything except remove the film. Right now I'm using FujiFilm #24 to take photographs, but I've taken more than that, 34 to be exact. I'm also wondering if that will make my oldest photos a double exposure? The camera hasn't stalled when trying to take pictures so I'm wondering when it'll stall because it's only supposed to be able to take 24. Asked by Jackie. - Fri Aug 14 22:19:19 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Try rewinding the film. The knob on the top left of the camera has a little crank that folds out. Wind it clockwise. If it spins freely, you didn't load it properly and took no photos. If it stalls, push in the little button on the bottom of the camera and try again. Or, you wound it too hard, ripped the film out of the cassette, and now must open the camera in total, absolute darkness and pull the film out by hand (don't forget the rewind button), roll it up into an opaque film can, and make sure the lab knows that there's raw film in the can. Good luck. Answered by Alex - Fri Aug 14 22:35:34 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "film" |
